Normally, the reception of a wedding lasts between three and five hours. To make the most of it, it is better to plan it. It’s good to know in advance what you expect to happen and when you expect it to happen.
The first hour
This is where the wedding photos should be taken. Pictures will usually be taken before the wedding ceremony and it is a good idea to spend time at the beginning of the wedding reception. To help create and build the atmosphere, the music must be played from the beginning when the guests arrive. The bride and groom and the rest of the reception line should be in place to greet the arriving guests. During the welcome of the guests, the appropriate songs should be played. These should be love songs to encourage people.
The second hour
All the guests will be at the reception place and the music should have created the atmosphere. Now it should be the time of the first dance of the bride and groom and all the guests should be watching the special moment. If you are going to have a father-daughter dance, this should go on.
The third hour
It’s been a while since someone has eaten, so they’ll be happy when dinner is served. Usually, your guests will sit according to the seating plan and then the wedding party, followed lastly by the bride and groom. Once everyone has taken their seats, food will be served. During dinner, the beast man or someone can propose the first toast.
The final hours
The launch of the Bouquet is sometimes an important part of the day, especially after wearing it all day. The first dance (if it has not been done) is now a good time, so have all the guests gather around the dance floor. If you have guests at night separately you can also wait until they have appeared before the first dance. It’s more a party after that with a disco or live band! Normally, a hot or cold buffet is offered for everyone. At the end of the night, you should expect to see many happy guests who will be congratulated on how special you are and on your wedding day.
This is an approximate guide to a wedding reception timeline. You can share this with your wedding planner if you have one.
